Overcoming Distortion in Extreme Conditions
In the aerospace industry, particularly civil aviation, the Auto Transformer Rectifier Unit (ATRU) is a critical device, converting AC current into DC for avionics. However, due to their working principles and non-linear characteristics, ATRUs can be subject to serious distortion on the grid side, with the potential to impact the power grid and other electrical equipment.
It’s essential therefore that ATRUs are tested under extreme working conditions such as low voltage and low frequency, overcurrent, overload, and phase loss. This testing is vital at all product lifecycle stages, from research & development (R&D), to manufacturing and production.
PPS Low-Voltage, Low-Frequency Testing
A common requirement with testing ATRUs is conducting overcurrent, overload, phase loss and other tests. Verifying whether the current output capacity, output DC stability, PF value, etc. of ATRUs in a low voltage and low frequency (900Hz) stage will normally meet strict test requirements.
When conducting ATRU low-voltage and low-frequency overcurrent and overload tests, a Pacific Power Source (PPS) can, in a controlled and stable way meet the test requirements, the PF value has been maintained at 0.99 too. In the phase loss test, an exact result is easily achieved.
Pacific Power Source’s (PPS) 3150AFX AC/DC power source can react to extreme test conditions and maintain a high PF, unlike competitor models.
