An AC power source is a programmable instrument that generates precise, adjustable AC — voltage, frequency and waveform under your control. It is not a mains adapter or a variac. Use one wherever the supply itself is the variable: avionics qualified to RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-704 at 400Hz, export appliances checked on 100V/50Hz, 120V/60Hz and 230V/50Hz, or UPS and EV charger validation against brownouts, sags and interruptions.
Our range covers two amplifier technologies. Linear models — the Pacific Power Source LMX Series and GW Instek APS-7000 Series — give the lowest distortion, below 0.1% THD to 450Hz on the LMX. Switch-mode models — the LSX Series and ADF Series — give far more power per rack unit, with programmable output impedance and transient sequencing. Ratings run from 500VA to 180kVA, 15Hz to 5000Hz, in single, split and three-phase.
All models are available to buy or rent from the UK with full applications support from Caltest Instruments. For AC and DC in a single unit see our AC+DC power sources; for grid compliance and anti-islanding work see our grid emulators.
