Programmable DC Power Supplies
Elektro-Automatik's PS and PSI series are programmable DC power supplies built for laboratory and industrial test environments. The PS 9000 series offers compact benchtop power supply options up to 3 kW in a single rack unit, while the PS 10000 and PSI 10000 series scale to 30 kW per unit — with parallel operation supporting hundreds of kilowatts.
These laboratory power supplies feature autoranging output, meaning a single unit covers a wide range of voltage and current combinations. Built-in arbitrary waveform generators allow simulation of complex power profiles without external signal sources. Remote control is available via USB, Ethernet, and analogue interfaces.
Whether you need a benchtop power supply for R&D prototyping or a high-power programmable DC source for production test, Elektro-Automatik's range covers 0–2,000 V and 0–1,000 A.
All units are available from Caltest with UKAS-accredited calibration and UK-based technical support.
Bidirectional Power Supplies
The PSB and PUB series are bidirectional power supplies that combine a programmable DC source and a regenerative electronic load in a single instrument. This means one unit can both supply power to and absorb power from your device under test — essential for battery cycling, fuel cell testing, and power converter validation.
Bidirectional operation eliminates the need for separate power supplies and electronic loads, saving rack space, cabling, and cost. Regenerative technology returns absorbed energy to the mains rather than dissipating it as heat, cutting energy consumption in continuous-duty test applications.
The PSB 10000 series offers up to 30 kW per unit in a compact 4U form factor, while the PUB 10000 series provides industrial-grade bidirectional power up to 60 kW in 6U. Both support seamless source-to-sink transitions with sub-millisecond changeover times.
Battery Test Systems
Elektro-Automatik's BT and BTS series are purpose-built battery test systems for cell-level and module-level testing of lithium-ion, solid-state, and other battery chemistries. Used extensively in electric vehicle development, battery manufacturing quality control, and second-life battery assessment.
The BTS 10300 series is a dedicated battery cell tester offering multi-channel testing with independent control per channel — ideal for characterisation, cycle-life testing, and grading. The BT 20000 series handles higher-power module and pack-level testing up to 30 kW, with three-channel TRIPLE variants available for simultaneous multi-module testing.
The BIM-20005 battery impedance meter complements the test systems by providing AC impedance measurements for state-of-health assessment and incoming inspection.
For EV battery testing applications, Caltest can provide complete test solutions combining Elektro-Automatik battery testers with temperature chambers and data acquisition — fully calibrated and supported in the UK.
Regenerative Electronic Loads
The ELR and PUL series are regenerative DC electronic loads that return up to 96% of absorbed energy to the mains grid. Traditional DC electronic loads convert all test power to heat, requiring substantial cooling infrastructure. Regenerative loads eliminate this problem entirely.
The ELR 10000 series covers 3 kW to 15 kW per unit, while the PUL 10000 scales to 30–60 kW. Both series support constant current, constant voltage, constant power, and constant resistance operating modes, with dynamic load profiles for transient response testing.
These electronic loads are commonly used for testing DC power supplies, solar inverters, fuel cells, and DC-DC converters in automotive and renewable energy applications.
